Welcome back, and a very happy New Year! I trust everyone had a wonderful Winter break spent with family and friends, and celebrating the Holidays. Mr. Hauser and I spent most of the break spending time with loved ones and prepping for baby, and on December 31st, 2019 we welcomed our son, Ogden Stanley Hauser into the world. Ogden was born at 11:31am via cesarean section at St. Vincent Hospital, weighing 9 pounds 14 ounces and 22 inches long. We are so in love and already asking ourselves how he’ll be a week-old tomorrow!
Today, your child spent their first day back with my long-term substitute, JoElle Hval. I reached out to JoElle previously and here are a few things she’d like to share with you:
Hello Fourth Grade Families,
My name is JoElle Hval and I am really excited about beginning my teaching position at West TV. Before I begin, I wanted to quickly introduce myself. I have been teaching and subbing in the Beaverton School District for the past 4 years. I began my teaching career in Beaverton before I took time off to raise my 3 children. I recently finished a long-term sub position at Sato Elementary teaching 4th grade and last year I taught 4th grade at Cedar Mill. I love teaching and especially 4th grade. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband Tim and our 3 children, Jackson (22), Paige (22) and Brody (21).
I am really looking forward to teaching and getting to know each one of your children.
As we head into the New Year, know that I will be thinking of you and your child during my time away. As of right now, my planned leave of absence is scheduled from January 6th- April 6th and of course if this were to change, I would keep you updated but plan to my return shortly after Spring break. While I’m away, I ask for your patience and flexibility as you and your child work closely with Mrs. Hval. As with any transition, things can be challenging but given this particular group of students, and the adversities they’ve already faced this school year, I have no doubt that they will have a wonderful 12 weeks.
Moving forward, I wanted to let you know of a few things that may be put on pause until my return including but not limited to classroom volunteers, weekly website updates and scholastic book orders. If Mrs. Hval decides to continue with these things, I know she will be backed by a outstanding group of families, but in the meantime, I ask for your respect and understanding as she transitions. Of course, class parties, art lit, auction art, and field trip volunteers will be needed, and below you can find a link to Mr. Blanc’s class website where he updates it frequently with important news and dates that similarly follow along with our classroom. The last important piece of information that I want to leave you with before we part has to do with report cards (which will still be sent home on January 31). Mrs. Hval plans to hit the ground running with curriculum such as informational writing and multiplication and division, but I wanted to let you know that scores such as these will not be included on the first semester’s report card as I already completed them before I took leave. Thank you so much for your understanding and support as we all adapt during the next few months! I know everyone will have a wonderful 3 months and I look forward to returning soon, after some quality family time with my new son.
All my very best,
Courtney Hauser
