Math
This week, students worked on communicating their mathematical thinking, while collaborating with others to solve story problems. Each set of students used Seesaw to create a short video in order to explain how to solve a turkey problem. After students were done with their videos, they were given time to work at their “just right” math level, using a fun interactive online website. Students can practice using this website called Dreambox at home, if they follow the link under our resources page.
Inquiry
This week we continued working on our PYP unit of inquiry, Who We Are. This weeks focus was on culture, and students were introduced to the metaphor of a cultural iceberg. We then had lots of discussion about how when we see an iceberg, it is only a small piece to a much larger whole, which is similar to someone's culture. Often times we observe noticeable characteristics of a particular group of people, and assume those are the only factors that define them.
Parent Volunteers
Now that Mrs. Hauser has taken some time to get to know her students better, she will be contacting parent volunteers in the coming week. If you filled out a volunteer form at Back To School Night, expect to hear from her soon!
