Math
This week, students worked on their knowledge of multiplication by solving math problems using partial product and the standard algorithm. As students continue to practice this skill of multiplying up to the thousands, it is important that they become fluent in their basic math facts. Remember, Xtra math is a great resource to help your child with their memorization of these facts.
Inquiry
This week, students continued learning about the acronym MELTS, which standards for the five most commonly used forms of energy: Mechanical, Electrical, Light, Thermal, and Sound. On Monday and Tuesday, students used their new found knowledge of electrical and light energy and made a card that lit up using a LED light and a copper tape circuit. On Wednesday, students focused on thermal energy and completed an experiment using hot and cold water to understand the concept of conversion. On Thursday during sound energy, students listened to a fun read aloud and explored all the different sounds our classroom had to offer.
Next week’s math: EGNY Module 3- Lessons 11, 12, and 13 & The Mid-Module Assessment
Next week’s vocabulary test: Coding
Homework
This is just a friendly reminder to let everyone know that I have not be receiving as many homework logs as I would like to. Please remember that 4th grade students should be reading for at least 3 hours per week, as well as have a completed book chat. Reading logs are due every Tuesday, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!
