Reading
This week students had a lot of new reading introductions! We learned about our in-class reading log and how to fill it out correctly, and we also reviewed and our first homework reading log. Please remember that 4th grade students are expected to read for at least 3 hours a week outside of school, and have a meaningful book chat with their parents. Mrs. Hauser continued to assess students at their “just right” reading levels, and the class was very excited when they found out that our first read aloud this school year is WONDER.
Inquiry
This week we continued working on our PYP unit of inquiry, Who We Are. We focused on the theme of values, and students were able to share something with the class that was important in their own lives. We also took a look at people from our past and present, and determined what some of their values were. Next week, we plan to focus on culture!
Parent Teacher Conferences
This Fall, Parent/Teacher conferences are held on October 11th and 12th. For your convenience, we will be scheduling conferences through a website called PTCfast, please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to chatting with each and every one of you! https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/West_Tualatin_View_Elementary
