For your child’s safety, all volunteers must have a criminal history record on file with the District. If you have not yet already filed a form, you may retrieve the document and complete your application online at https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/volunteer/.
Upon arrival to the school, please check in with the office and wear your visitor’s tag. You are always welcome in your child’s classroom!
Birthdays and Other Celebrations
We enjoy recognizing each child’s special birthday. Your child will receive a birthday card and be sung to by the class. Please do not send invitations to be passed out at school unless the entire class is invited. Also, in compliance with our District’s Wellness Policy, please do not send treats.
Specials
Day 1: Music/Technology
Day 2: P.E.
Day 3: Spanish
Day 4: Music/Library
Day 5: P.E.
Day 6: Spanish
Specials are 45 minutes long; please remember to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.
Special Needs
Please keep me informed of any special needs of your child so that I can better support the academic success of your student. For example: health needs, beliefs, values, traditions, family dynamics, and/or other academic needs. The more we have a shared understanding of your child’s needs, the better we can collaborate to promote student achievement.
To allow for a smooth day, it is best for parents/guardians to discuss any concerns after school. If you have any questions, I can easily be reached via email. I can also receive calls after school between 3:05-4:00. Please do not hesitate to contact me about any questions or concerns you feel I need to know.
Classroom Management
Children are energetic and enthusiastic learners! To provide the best type of learning environment and to maintain their enthusiasm, children need to understand what appropriate behavior is—what it looks like and sounds like.
Our three basic classroom and schoolwide rules are:
Be safe
Be respectful
Be responsible
I use several methods to encourage “right behavior”. Each day, students work to earn privileges such as class jobs, flexible seating, and VIP student. This teaches kids to participate cooperatively and to focus on positive behavior. As a PBIS school, I use shining stars to highlight students individually. We also work together as a class to earn wooden nickels from other staff and community members to earn extra privileges.
I look forward to a great year with your child here at West TV! -Mrs. Hauser
