November 4-6
Math
This week, students continued working on the metric system by completing multi-step story problems and converting measurements using length, weight and capacity. Parents can check Seesaw for their child's most up to date responses involving these types of problems and be on the look out for next week's math inquiry problem involving muffles truffles!
Reading/Writing
This week, students finished up their realistic fiction units in both reading and writing in preparation for parent/teacher conferences. Be on the look out for students Seesaw responses to finishing their first read aloud, Wonder, where they were asked to describe a character and determine the theme of the story while supporting their claims with evidence. Students also finished their very first published piece of writing and Mrs. Hauser will have everyone celebrate their hard work and accomplishments next week during a small celebration!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Thank you so much to everyone who attended parent/teacher conferences this Fall. There was a great turn out, and I really enjoyed chatting with each family about their child's success in 4th grade thus far. During conferences, I was eager to announce that my long term substitute will be Joelle Hval, while I am away on maternity leave. She is a seasoned educator who has taught 4th grade in the past and is looking forward to spending time at West TV!
