Reading/Writing
This week, students continued to work on their final pieces of the school year. In reading, each student has chosen a chapter book that they have committed to finishing before the last day of school, and will then write a book summary and post it to Seesaw. In writing, students have selected a final narrative or opinion piece to write and each student has continued to work diligently on reaching this goal. This Summer, I recommend that your child continues to read and write by frequently visiting the library or ordering a magazine subscription, students can also keep a journal so that they can write about all the fun adventures they will experience in the next few months.
Math
This week, students continued working with customary units and converting measurement while using fractions. Their knowledge of length, weight, capacity and time has improved greatly over the last few weeks, and their Seesaw assignments are showing this. Next week, we will finish Module 7 and spend our last few school days celebrating all our math success with some review and coding work. Over the Summer, students will still have access to their Dreambox and Prodigy accounts, so please make sure you have all their login information before school ends.
Inquiry
This week, students had a wonderful time on their very last field trip of the school year. Students got to participate in 4 different rotations during their time at Cedar Mill Wetlands including water testing, journal taking, transect collecting and macro-invertebrates observing. We are so appreciative of our parent volunteers who helped us on our field trip because without them it would not have been made possible. Once we returned from our outing, students got to choose an organism that could be found in a wetland habitat and research that plant, insect, or animal for their final inquiry project of the school year which will be comprised of a watercolor painting and poem of their choice.
Next week’s math: Customary Measurement: Lessons 14-15
Next week’s vocabulary test: Poetry
Final Week of School
It has been such a joy working with your students this school year! They have learned and grown so much as fourth graders, and I will be sad to see each and every one of them go...but on to bigger and better things. Next week, we will be celebrating their success with multiple events, so please make sure your child is present and ready for all the fun! On Monday, June 17th, report cards will be mailed home, be on the look out for those as you begin your Summer vacations!
